Yuchi Chou,
Assistant Conductor
Yuchi Chou is a student of
Maestro Michael Morgan at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music. Born in Taiwan, Ms. Chou
holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin
Conservatory of Music in Piano Performance. Her
conducting teacher at Oberlin, Bridget-Michaele
Reischl, is one of the leading American women
conductors. She has also studied with Robert Spano,
Kirk Trevor, Carlos Moreno, Johannes Schlaefi, David Newby,
Timothy Weiss, and Hugh Floyd. Her piano teacher at
Oberlin, Robert G. Shannon, has been her most
influential mentor musically and philosophically.
Ms. Chou is active in opera
conducting, as well as orchestral conducting. She
has toured several cities in Italy, serving as the
assistant conductor for Bellini’s La Sonnambula
and Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”. Before
she attended the Oberlin Conservatory, she was an
active solo and chamber pianist, and won many
national awards in Taiwan. |
